Narrow Gauge North

Ormsgill is an imaginary narrow gauge line located in the north west part of the Lake District.

The line runs from quarries in the Whinlatter are to Lorton and connecting to the main line at Cockermouth.  Ormsgill is a small halt station at one of the quarries that the line serves.

This is our first attempt at a G scale layout, and the availability of a great deal of ready to run stock, decided us to attempt something new.  We have always preferred continuous type layouts, and using the G scale standards we have managed to have a continuous layout in a very compact size.

The track used is PECO flexible, and the points the largest radius we could find.  Rolling stock is mostly from the Accucraft series.

We have tried to get away from the large toy train image that G scale has at the moment, and produce a more realistic layout.
