Wood Brook is a fictional location modelled in 4mm scale using 12mm gauge track representing a 3’ gauge line.

The layout has been built in three sections, each 755mm x 254mm, a size dictated by what will fit on top of a half-height Billy bookcase from IKEA.

The track used is PECO 12mm gauge H0m just the correct width for 3’ gauge with no compromises.

The majority of stock used with this layout is accessible by the enthusiastic model builder. The loco’s are 3D prints from Model Engine Works, all of which run on Halling motor bogies. The wagons are a mixture of plastic kits (Dundas Models) and white metal or white metal and resin kits (Branchlines). Only the coaches are built from etched brass.

The buildings are all made from card with mortar courses embossed and then the whole structure was painted and weathered.

The backstory (if you need one). The station site has been developed by enthusiasts as a museum for 3’ gauge locos and stock. Their ambition is to extend the line further but for the time being they are restricted to the station vicinity running short passenger and demonstration goods trains.

In reality I needed to check out a few ideas before commencing my next 00n3 layout (Clogher) and produce something practical for show at a one day exhibition.
